In this course, you will learn the science behind scent detection the different types of scent detection dogs. Before you begin gluten or allergen-detection training, it is important to understand the components of gluten and the biology that enables the dog to detect it. You will learn about the foundations of imprinting and scent training. We will also help you understand how to choose the right alert behaviors. You will also learn about handler bias, the mechanics of handler influence, and the importance of blind trials. This course will prepare you to begin your work with a gluten or allergen-detection trainer. This is not a replacement for working with a professional gluten-detection trainer. It will help you understand what is required for training and the process. In this course, you will learn, - the science behind scent detection - different types of scent detection dogs - imprinting and scent training - choosing the right alert behaviors - handler bias and the importance of blind trials - mechanics of handler influence This course also includes a course handbook with clickable resources of the materials referenced in the course.
